Webb slinger: Top referee Howard relegated to League One after having a 'mare in Tyne-Wear derby
Whistler who failed to give a penalty and wrongly disallowed
a Newcastle goal for offside will take charge of Colchester vs
Shrewsbury this weekend
World Cup Final referee Howard Webb has suffered the humiliation of
being axed from the Premier League list - and relegated to League One.
Webb has been punished for his error-prone performance in the Tyne-Wear derby at Newcastle, where he got key decisions wrong in Sunderland’s 3-0 win.
Webb, English football’s leading official missed Yoan Gouffran’s horror challenge, disallowed a Papiss Cisse goal for Newcastle even though he was onside and waved away a penalty appeal.
They have been relegated TWO divisions and will take charge of Colchester’s low-key clash with Shrewsbury on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Chris Foy will referee QPR v Stoke at the weekend, despite failing to send Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero off for a shocking stamp on Chelsea's David Luiz in Sunday's FA Cup semi-final. -------------------- Mirror Football
