cap Super Eagles forward Shola Ameobi was on target for Newcastle
United as they forced Portuguese side Pacos de Ferreira to a 1-1 draw in
their last game of their pre-season tour of Portugal after suffering a
shock 3-1 defeat to Rio Ave last Saturday at the Estadio dos Arcos in
Vila do Conde.Ameobi who suffered a minor arm injury in the defeat to Rio Ave hammered home a left footed shot to leave Filipe with no chance in the 73rd minute of the encounter.
The 32 year old striker who has been linked with a move away from Newcastle also scored a consolatory goal for the Magpies in the defeat last Saturday.
Birmingham City and Middlesbrough have been mentioned as possible destinations for the long-serving frontman, but with doubts remaining over Papiss Demba Cisse’s future, Newcastle are unlikely to sanction any move until they get a couple of strikers into the club this summer. ---------------------- complete sports
