Paris St-Germain have made direct contact with Wayne Rooney over a big-money summer move, according to French newspaper L'Equipe.

The 27-year-old's future at Manchester United is in doubt after he handed in a transfer request, which was subsequently rejected by outgoing manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

New boss David Moyes is expected to decide the striker's future once for all, although it is believed Rooney wants to leave after seeing Robin van Persie become the star man at Old Trafford.

And according to L'Equipe, that has encouraged PSG to sound out the former Everton man, who they wish to pair with Sweden ace Zlatan Ibrahimovic.It has been claimed by the French newspaper that PSG have been in touch with the England international's camp to see if he would fancy a move to the French capital.

PSG's interest in Rooney could also clear the path for Manchester City to make a move for Napoli's Edinson Cavani, who has also attracted interest from the French champions in recent months. ------------------------ Complete Sports
