Martins Promises More Sounders Goals

Martins Promises More Sounders Goals

BY Johnny Edward:

Super Eagles striker Obafemi Martins has assured Seattle Sounders fans that there is more to come from him following his impressive start in the MLS, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.

The former Levante striker is just five appearances into his first season with the Sounders FC and has proven well up to the task scoring three goals in just 205 minutes for the Sigi Schmid's side.

The former Rubin Kazan and Wolfsburg striker who scored in his third straight game last Saturday for Sounders in their 4-2 win over FC Dallas believes he has finally overcome his slow start at the club.

“Scoring goals is always important and the fans haven't see nothing yet,” begins the former Birmingham City striker.

“We can pass the ball around but the striker has to score. That is why I am here – scoring goals. And it’s happening.

“I spoke to Lamar and Eddie about playing close to each other,  because the more we pass the ball to each other it is easier to play.

“We have been doing that in training, which is good. I'm happy for that because we did well,” Martins states.

Martins who is close to full fitness will undoubtedly return to the starting line-up for next Sunday's clash away to LA Galaxy  at The Home Depot Center in Carson.

The one nicknamed Obagol says: “I’m getting there and if you recall: when I first came,  I said I wanted to score a lot of goals and it’s happening now.

"I hope it continues to be like this, and the important thing is for the team to win, to get the three points,” he concludes. ------------------------------ Complete Sports
