Mesut Ozil transfer to Arsenal surprises but delights the midfielder's Germany coach Loew

Germany's coach has lead a chorus of astonishment over Real Madrid’s decision to sell Mesut Ozil to Arsenal.
But Joachim Loew, who labelled the Spanish giants' move “incomprehensible”, insisted the £42.4million transfer is great news for him as it will improve his team in a World Cup year.
Ozil scored 27 times for Real in three seasons and also assisted on the same number of goals... for Cristiano Ronaldo alone.
Speaking
before Germany’s World Cup qualifier against Austria, Loew said: “For
me, it is a bit incomprehensible that Real Madrid would get rid of one
of their best players, who is of a high quality and looked more decisive
than ever last season.
“Many Real players, like Sami Khedira or Cristiano Ronaldo, are sad about the transfer.”
Ozil will now add the creative spark to the Gunners, whose team already includes fellow German internationals Per Mertesacker and, when he's fit again, Lukas Podolski.
Loew
added: “Ozil’s Arsenal move will be a good transfer for the national
team because he will play for a team which has an overall great
technique - that is good for him.
“He has a top coach there and, with Lukas Podolski and Per Mertesacker, he has two German colleagues.
“Mesut is a sensitive player who still needs to feel as though he has complete confidence from his club and coach.
“From
what I heard from Madrid ahead of the transfer, you could feel that the
trust was no longer there 100 per cent. Arsenal tried hard to sign him.
That did him good.”
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho, who coached Ozil at Real until last season, says Arsenal are getting a world superstar.
He
said: “Ozil is unique - there is no copy of him. He is the best No 10
in the world. He makes things easier for his team-mates with his play
and his decisions. Everyone liked him and you can see a bit of Figo and
Zidane in him.”
Spanish newspapers claimed Ronaldo had told his
Portugal team-mates: “Ozil’s exit is bad news for me. He was a player
who best knew my moves in front of goal.”
And Barcelona's former
Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas has followed several Real stars by
publicly expressing his surprise at the sale of Ozil.
“He was the second best player at Real Madrid after Cristiano,” said the former Gunners captain.
“I feel I identified with him as we have a very similar style of play and at Arsenal he will be great.”
