Hull re-sign Gedo on deadline day but miss out on West Brom striker Shane Long
The 28-year-old returns to the KC Stadium for a second stint after impressing with five goals in 12 games on loan last season
Hull City have brought Egypt striker Gedo back to the club on a season-long loan from Al Ahly, subject to international clearance.
The move sees the 28-year-old return to the KC Stadium for a second stint after impressing with five goals in 12 games on loan last season.
Gedo's goals were crucial in helping the Tigers secure promotion to the Barclays Premier League, and manager Steve Bruce will welcome the return of a player who will provide competition to the likes of Yannick Sagbo, Danny Graham and Sone Aluko.
The move, which still awaits formal clearance, will go some way to helping Bruce overcome the disappointment of missing out on West Brom striker Shane Long.
The Republic of Ireland international will stay at the Hawthorns after the Baggies blocked his projected £5million move to East Yorkshire.
Long was given special dispensation by Ireland boss Giovanni Trapattoni to decide his future, but Baggies boss Steve Clarke had pulled the plug on the deal as he sweated on reinforcements.
City midfielder David Meyler, a fellow Irish international, tweeted: "Gutted Shane Long hasn't signed. He would have been brilliant for us."
And pop star Olly Murs wrote when the deal looked like it was going ahead: "Bit random but just seen that Shane long leaving WBA for HULL CITY... What happened there??... His quality!! Why they selling??"
Meanwhile, Hull City winger Cameron Stewart has joined Championship side Charlton Athletic on loan.
The 22-year-old, who began his career at Manchester United, will stay at The Valley until January 2.
Stewart spent time on loan at Burnley and Blackburn last season and could make his Addicks debut against Watford a week on Saturday.
Defender Conor Townsend has also gone out on loan, joining League One side Carlisle on a 28-day deal.
