The 43-year-old has slammed the
midfielder's decision to visit China ahead of Paris Saint-Germain's
Barcelona clash, and feels he is a marketing tool rather than a football
player
Former France international Bixente Lizarazu has hit out
at Paris Saint-Germain midfielder David Beckham
as he feels the Englishman was unprofessional in travelling to China
days before the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final tie
against Barcelona.Beckham visited the Far East country during the international break in his role as football ambassador for China, and Lizarazu feels the former Manchester United star should have been preparing for the match against Barca instead.
"I am sorry, but travelling to China to promote football only 10 days before the most important game of the season is simply not the right way to prepare," Lizarazu told TF1.
"No other club would allow one of their players to go on a trip like this. It's unprofessional.
"The question is whether Beckham is a marketing tool or a football player. If he's a marketing product, that's great as people are talking about PSG all over the world. But don't make it out as if he's a football player."
Beckham has made five official appearances for the Ligue 1 leaders since his January move. ---- goal.com
