The former African footballer of the year feels the
Yellow Submarine forward deserve a place in the World Cup squad judging
by his current form
Former Super Eagles forward and 1997 African footballer of the year
Victor Ikpeba has made a strong case for under fire Villarreal Fc
striker Ikechukwu Uche as the 2014 Fifa World Cup Brazil inches nearer.Coach Stephen Keshi early last week made a declaration that the former Getafe striker will not be included in his squad for the World Cup expected to begin in June.
In his opinion, Ikpeba who played 31 times for Nigeria and featured at the USA 1994 and France 1988 Fifa World Cups claimed it will be out of place if the Yellow Submarine forward who has been in blistering form is left out of the Eagles squad to Brazil
"Agreed the coach has the final say on invitations and team selections but it is not fair to rule out one of our brightest stars in Europe because the coach says he lacks tactical discipline”, Ikpeba told Supersport.
"I think Uche should be included in the World Cup team to give the Eagles more attacking options.
“ Uche for now is Nigeria's hottest striker and merits to go to the World Cup" he concluded.
Ikechukwu Uche last played for Nigeria at the 2013 African Cup of Nations staged in South Africa where the Super Eagles emerged as Africa champions for the third time. ------------- goal.com
