Peter Crouch came back to haunt his former club on Saturday, scoring the winner as Stoke beat Aston Villa.
After a first half of relatively few chances, Mark Hughes' side came out on top after the game opened up, securing three points that took them into the top half.
Charlie Adam netted the opener for the Potters, finishing confidently after running on to a Crouch knock-down.
Paul Lambert's men restored parity within minutes, however, Libor Kozak capitalising on an Erik Pieters error to nip in and turn the ball past Asmir Begovic.
But Crouch would have the final word, the striker pouncing from close range after a mix-up in the Villa area.
