Gerrard, wife facing legal action over 'street brawl'

London: England and Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard and his wife are reportedly facing a legal action following an alleged ` street brawl` near the Gerrards` home, which may threaten the football icon`s run-up to the 2014 World Cup finals.

Gerrard, his model wife Alex and a friend are named in legal papers lodged at London`s High Court by a man named Paul Alan Lloyd, who is thought to be seeking damages from them in connection with the incident in August

According to the Mirror, Lloyd, who is believed to have hired a top legal firm for the case, has four months to serve papers on Gerrard, his wife and the friend.


The report mentioned that the incident came after Gerrard had just got out of his Range Rover outside a convenience store in the upmarket village near Liverpool where he lives with Alex and their daughters, who were in or near the area at the time of the `brawl`.

The game`s biggest tournament kicks off next June and this case will be an unwelcome distraction for England boss Roy Hodgson, his players and backroom staff, the report added.
