Fulham 2-4 Manchester City: Late City rally spares Kompany's blushes at Craven Cottage
Substitutes Jesus Navas and then James Milner secured the victory after Fulham had fought back to 2-2
Manchester City fought back at a sodden Craven Cottage to go second in the Barclays Premier League.
Manuel Pellegrini's men had looked like bagging an easy victory when they raced into a 2-0 first-half lead.
Yaya Toure's wonderful free kick had put them one-nil up a quarter of the way through the game just as everyone had been expecting Aleksandar Kolarov to curl one with his notorious left foot.
And when Vincent Kompany doubled that lead just moments before the break, the 2012 champions looked to be coasting to three points.
But a second-half fightback from Fulham threatened to derail City's title challenge, as Kieran Richardson pulled the hosts back into contention and then a ludicrously unfortunate Vincent Kompany own goal looped over the head of the reinstated Joe Hart.
Pellegrini threw on Jesus Navas and James Milner to try and change the game and was given the perfect Christmas gift for any manager as both substitutes found the net in a late five-minute spell to secure all three points.
