The Frenchman is unhappy that the Giallorossi's
Serie A clash with Cagliari will be played on a pitch that was used for
Italy's Test match against Argentina on Saturday
The Giallorossi host Cagliari on Monday evening but the pitch in Rome has already seen action this weekend, with Italy having tackled Argentina in a rugby union international at the same venue on Saturday.
Garcia is, therefore, worried about the state of the playing surface for a game that Roma need to win in order to reclaim top spot from Juventus.
“I’ve never seen a game of rugby played two days before a football match,” the former Lille boss fumed.
“It’s a shame, with this rain we already know that the field will not be in good condition against Cagliari.
“Hopefully we can play well, but to do so the football needs to roll on the ground, something that doesn’t need to happen in rugby.
“But if we do everything right on Monday night, we’ll still be on top.”
Ground-sharing with both local rivals and other sports is something that Roma have had to get used to over the years, but it hasn’t come without its problems.
Last autumn former Roma forward Erik Lamela suffered ankle ligament damage in a match against Torino that took place just two days after Italy had entertained New Zealand in the italian capital. ------------------- goal.com
