Chelsea sign Bertrand Traore on a four-and-a-half-year deal after impressive summer trial
The attacking midfielder and Burkina Faso international starred in the club's tour to Asia, scoring against Indonesia All Stars
Chelsea have agreed to sign Bertrand Traore on a four-and-a-half-year contract after impressing during the summer tour to Asia.
The attacking midfielder, a Burkina Faso international with 10 caps, joins from Association Jeunes Espoirs De Bobo-Dioulasso.
The 18-year-old starred in three of the Blues' tour games and scored in both Indonesia and Malaysia, impressing enough to sign a long-term deal.
But it's not been an easy agreement as Chelsea had to wait until the player turned 18 and also until he got a work permit.
Mourinho said in the summer: “We want to keep him. Sooner or later the committee has to give him a work permit to play in England.
‘’If he goes on loan somewhere, he has to go, but if he’s playing for his country at the same time – one of the most important countries in African football – he’ll get his deserved permit.’’
Traore's deal runs until 2018.
