Former Nigeria international, Clement Temile has advised coach of the Super Eagles Stephen Keshi to pay less attention to the FIFA Confederations Cup and concentrate more on the World Cup qualifiers.
“I will advise Keshi to concentrate more on the World Cup qualifiers because that is more important to us. We don’t stand a chance at the Confederations Cup. Let’s call a spade a spade: I don’t see us getting anything especially in the games against Spain and Uruguay at the Confederations Cup," the 1984 Africa Cup of Nations Silver winner posits in an exclusive chat with Completesportsnigeria.com
“I remember we beat Spain in 1998, though the quality of football in that country now is different from the last time we met. However, I will advise Keshi to pay more attention to the World Cup qualifiers because that is what will benefit us now more than the Confederations Cup.
“It’s not as if the Super Eagles are a bad team. I have seen them play, and I must commend Keshi for the work he is doing, but I think what the team need is encouragement. Expectations should not be too high because they are not there yet.”
Continues Temile, on Nigeria's next crucial second leg clash with Kenya: “The Super Eagles performance in their last game against Kenya was a shocker. I was so happy when eventually they equalized in the very last minute of the game. If the Kenyans had won, it would have looked as if we won the Cup of Nations by chance.
“I believe they (Eagles) will not disappointin the return leg in Nairobi because now they have an idea about the Kenyans and know the best way to handle them.” ------------------- Complete Sports
