Stephen Keshi allay fears on Nigeria’s preparation for packed June schedule

The trainer who will return to the
country on May 8 says that he’s in touch with his players and is putting
everything in place for a good outing
Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi has assured everyone in the football circle that his team would come out of its packed June 2013 schedule unscathed.The Super Eagles are scheduled to play a friendly match against Mexico on May 31 before 2014 World Cup qualifying matches against Kenya and Namibia on June 5 and 12 respectively. They will then proceed to Brazil for the Confederations Cup with matches against Tahiti, Uruguay and Spain on June 17, 20 and 23.
Speaking with Goal.com from his base in the United States of America where he is holidaying, the coach allayed fears on the preparations for the two 2014 World Cup qualifying matches as well as the Fifa Confederations Cup.
“I want to assure you that there are no fears as regards the loaded programme that we have in June including the Mexico friendly in the US. I have been in close and regular contact with my players and I have been following their activities and progress in their respective clubs abroad and at home in Nigeria. So I would say no cause for alarm," Keshi told Goal.com.
“We will do our best possible to win our World Cup qualifying matches in June. We want to be in Brazil for the 2014 World Cup and with hard work on our side and cooperation, support and prayers of all Nigerians we will be there,” he assured.
The trainer also said that he would return to the country next week. “I hope to be in Nigeria by May 8 if I am able to get a seat. I even hope to be in Nigeria earlier than that but all depends on availability of seats in the plane for my return.”
The home-based Super Eagles and team coaches and officials would get their US visas on Friday after they submitted their international passports and other travelling documents at the United States of America Embassy in Abuja on Tuesday. They are also expected to get their Shengen visas next week after appearing at the German Embassy in Lagos last week Friday.
The Nigeria Football Federation is ensuring that the players, coaches and officials at home in Nigeria get all the necessary visas to avoid any travel hitches. They have also been communicating with the other players in the 30-man list that would be processing their visas to the United States of America from their respective bases so that they can render assistance when and where needed to solve problems that may arise. ------------------- goal.com
