SHORUNMU: EAGLES WILL MISS EMENIKE
Posted: May 02, 2013
Super Eagles goalkeepers trainer, Ike Shorunmu has lamented that the
team will miss 2013 Africa Cup of Nations highest goal scorer,Emmanuel
Emenike following the injury he sustained at the weekend.
The Spartak Moscow hit-man damaged his knee ligaments on Sunday against Anzhi Makhachkala and had to be stretched off and he is likely to miss the Eagles’ 2014 World Cup qualifiers against Kenya and Namibia and the Confederations Cup in Brazil.
“It’s unfortunate that after coming back from a long injury lay-off, Emenike suffered another injury blow. The team was looking forward to his return because he was surely missed in the last game against Kenya.”
“This latest injury setback is going to be a big blow for the team and we will miss him- especially as the team looks forward to the World Cup qualifiers and the Confederations Cup,” the former Besiktas of Turkey goal-tender said.
It would be recalled that Emenike suffered a muscle tear in the semi-final of the 2013 AFCON against Mali which the Eagles won 4-1. -------------------- Complete Sports
