The national team coach wants to use the match against the Tricolore to strengthen his squad ahead of their crucial set of matches in June
Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi has told Goal that he is leaving no stone unturned to get a good result against Mexico in the friendly match that would hold on May 31 in Houston, Texas, United States of America.
The Eagles gaffer who just returned from holidays in the US where his family resides said that he would be using the match against a strong opponent like Mexico to test the resolve and strength of his team that have not played a competitive match since March’s 2014 Fifa World  Cup qualifying match against Kenya which in Calabar.
“We need to continue and in fact we are continuing from where we stopped in South Africa where we won the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations. We hope to continue to build a strong team that would be able to withstand the test of time,” Keshi told Goal.
The friendly match against Mexico is to prepare the Eagles for their two qualifying matches in June as well ass the Confederations Cup. The Super Eagles will play against Kenya on June 5 and Namibia on June 12 before proceeding to Brazil for the FIFA Confederations Cup from June 15 to June 30.
Keshi, however believes that his team would continue to grow in strength and maturity. “I believe this team has the capacity and talents to get to the level that we want them to be. The performance of the new players in the match against Mexico will give us more options in the team.
“A good result in this match will put us in good stead for the important 2014 World Cup qualifying match first against Kenya in Nairobi and the second one also away to Namibia. So we need to play well and play good against Mexico to toughen us ahead of the qualifiers,” Keshi declared. ------------------- goal.com
