Hip-hip! Toure! Liverpool eye Manchester City's Kolo to fill Jamie Carragher's 'old sweat' role
Rodgers wants to sign a centre-half with lots of Premier League experience PLUS Reds chase Spain winger Capel for £4m
Walk on... Will Toure make Liverpool his third Premier League club?
Neville Williams
Liverpool have lined up Kolo Toure as a possible experienced replacement for Jamie Carragher after the Kop idol defender’s retirement. The Reds'
manager Brendan Rodgers knows he could have to sign at least two - and
possibly three - centre-halves this summer, with Martin Skrtel also
likely to leave.
And he wants at least one of them to already know his way around the Premier League.
Toure fits the bill after 13 years at the top of the English game with Arsenal and more recently Manchester City.
He will also be available on a free after coming to the end of his contract at Eastlands.

Despite his age - at 32, Toure is only three years younger
than Carragher - the deal will be green-lighted by Liverpool’s owners if
the Ivory Coast international agrees to the club’s wage structure.
That would see his City salary of around £120,000 a week slashed by almost two thirds.
* LIVERPOOL want to complete a cut-price £4million deal for Sporting Lisbon’s Spanish winger Diego Capel, writes John Cross.
Crisis
club Sporting are having to auction off their biggest stars and top
earners this summer and 25-year-old Spanish international is up for
grabs.
Sporting president Bruno de Carvalho said: “The club needs
changes in every aspect and we will work to a different style. The sales
are necessary and obligatory.”
