Michu set to discover if he needs ankle operation that will sideline him for three months
The Swans striker missed the defeat to Everton and his absence would
mean Michael Laudrup would look for replacement in January transfer
window
Swansea will today find out if Michu needs an ankle operation which would sideline him for up to three months.
City’s Spanish talisman missed yesterday’s 2-1 home defeat to Everton because of the long-standing problem.
The striker is seeing a specialist, with the worst- case scenario a major operation ruling him out until well into the new year.
“We’re waiting for a final opinion from an expert and then we will know,” said boss Michael Laudrup. “If the information says he needs an operation he will have surgery in the near future.”
A long absence would mean Laudrup looking to bring in a new recruit when the transfer window reopens next month.
He added: “It’s part of football to have injuries. Last week, we lost Nathan Dyer and now we could be without Michu so we will have to decide what to do in January.”
Laudrup was frustrated after Ross Barkley gave Everton victory with a late 25-yard free-kick.
The Swans had chances, with Toffees keeper Tim Howard denying Pablo Hernandez and Roland Lamah before Alvaro Vazquez failed to connect in the dying seconds with the goal at his mercy.
Laudrup said: “It was harsh. We deserved at least a point.
“I don’t want to say Everton found luck, it was a well-hit free-kick, but it found three points.”
