: Aug 18, 2013
Super Eagles
defender, Joseph Yobo was on target as Fenerbache threw away a two goal
lead, succumbing to a 3-2 loss to Konyaspor.
Yobo who failed to make the starting line-up in last weekend's Turkish Super Cup clash against Champions, Galatasary, started in the heart of his team's defence but failed to prevent them from going down to defeat in the season opener.
The former Everton player opened the scoring for the visitors in the sixteenth minute to give his team a deserved lead before team captain Emre Belozoglu converted a spot kick to go into the half with a convincing lead.
In the second half, the hosts came out strongly to mark a solid start to the league season with three unreplied goals in the half through Tomas Borek,Ali Camdali and Recep Aydin to win the encounter.
Yobo's international teammate, Emmanuel Emenike was also in action but failed to get on the scorers' chart.
The big Nigerian centre back and his teammates now face a huge task as they host English side, Arsenal, in the UEFA Champions League, first leg, final qualifying round tie on Wednesday. ------------------------ complete sports
