Real Madrid's bid for Gareth Bale looks to be faltering as Manchester United have reportedly entered the fray for staggering fee
Old Trafford-bound: Bale now has tough choice between Real and United
EMPICS
In what could be the biggest twist of the summer transfer window,
Gareth Bale may have snubbed a deal with Real Madrid in order to force a
deal with Manchester United.
The Welshman flew home from Spain yesterday, and could be back in the UK to agree terms with United.
David Moyes last night denied that Manchester United had put in a bid for Spurs star Gareth Bale last night
However,
former Wales and Manchester United winger Mickey Thomas told BBC Sport
that there is a belief at Old Trafford that Bale is now on his way to
Manchester.
"The whispers around [Manchester United] are that he's Old Trafford-bound," said Thomas.
"That
might be more in hope than anything else but it could happen, because
by all accounts Real Madrid have not got all the money to put down for
Gareth Bale and by all accounts they owe money [to Spurs] for Luka
Modric.”
But if David Moyes wants to bring Gareth Bale into the fray at Manchester United, it could cost him up to an eye-watering £125million. Related gallery: Click to see Gareth Bale's astonishing career in pictures

United could have to pay around £40million more than the £86m
bid placed by Real Madrid, and the demand for extra cash reinforces
Daniel Levy’s position as a hard bargainer.
The staggering rise in
asking price would help soften the blow of selling Gareth Bale to a
domestic rival, and would leave Spurs with an even larger budget heading
into the last few days of the transfer window.
The United manager
denied that he had placed a bid for Bale, but hinted that Manchester
United were always looking to bring the best players to Old Trafford.
