Bridge bound: Schurrle is Jose Mourinho’s first signing since his return to Chelsea
Chelsea have completed a move for Bayer Leverkusen striker Andre Schurrle.
The 27-year-old Germany international is the first signing for new boss Jose Mourinho in what is believed to be a £18 million deal. Schurrle’s move was made possible after Leverkusen agreed a deal for Hamburg’s South Korean striker Son Heung-Min, who had been linked with both Tottenham and Liverpool.
Chelsea released a statement on there website confirming Schurrle’s arrival, which read: ‘Chelsea and Bayer Leverkusen have reached an agreement for the transfer of Andre Schurle, subject to personal terms and a medical.’

It had been expected that Chelsea midfielder Kevin de Bruyne would move on loan as part of the deal, but  the statement made no mention of the 21-year-old who Mourinho revealed was very much part of his future first-team plans.
Schurrle came through the youth ranks at Mainz where he played alongside Tottenham midfielder Lewis Holtby before leaving for Leverkusen in a £6.5 million deal in 2011. ------------------------ Metro News
