Well the Daily Mail think so.
The pseudo tabloid have followed up their splash on Wednesday which claimed that PSG are trying to secure Andre Villas-Boas as their manager for £10m should Carlo Ancelotti move to Real Madrid, by claiming that the mega-rich Frenchman are now preparing to outbid Los Blancos for Gareth Bale.
Journalist Simon Jones, who has written both pieces of PSG’s transfer plans for Tottenham’s stars in the the past two days, now writes:
Paris Saint-Germain are prepared to outbid Real Madrid in the £85million battle to sign Gareth Bale. The French champions are pursuing Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas and hope his capture as head coach will help convince Bale to follow.
Bale will listen to what PSG, Real and Manchester United have to say if Tottenham decide to cash in. Manager Villas-Boas is to hold talks with chairman Daniel Levy and may yet opt to stay if assurances can be given over his transfer budget.
The chances that Spurs and chairman Daniel Levy would let PSG sign both his manager and star player are zero. It simply won’t happen.
That said PSG are definitely running out of managerial options and AVB could suit their needs.
With Carlo Ancelotti expected to move to Real Madrid any day now, PSG have been searching for options to replace the Italian.
It had looked like Guus Hiddink was the favourite for the job but Russian side Anzhi announced on Tuesday that the Dutchman had agreed a year extension to his current deal.
With the lure of untold millions and Champions League, it would be a surprise if Andre Villas-Boas’ head was not turned. ---------------------- NewsNow
