The Nigerian capped an impressive season
for CSKA Moscow by helping them beat Anzhi in the final of the Russia
domestic cup competition
Ahmed Musa ensured that he will be joining his Super Eagles
team mates in Kenya on a high as he helped CSKA Moscow defeat Anzhi
Makhachkala 4-3 on penalties in the final of the Russia Cup on Saturday. The Nigerian who was not invited for the friendly against Mexico scored the opening goal in the final in the 11th minute but Anzhi equalised through Lassana Diarra in the second half.
Musa’s goal came from a pass by Alan Dzagoev and the striker took it into the box and shot with his weaker left foot and the shot squeezed under the goalkeeper. The Nigerian however missed his penalty in the shoot-out but CSKA eventually ran out 4-3 winners.
CSKA had won the league by two points from Zenit after a seven-year hiatus and completed the double with the 20-year-old Nations Cup winner emerging as the highest goal scorer for his side. Musa scored 11 goals in the league and four goals in the domestic cup competition. -------------------- goal.com
